How many of the jars did you end up with? On average I'll get 4 jars filled and each contain roughly 200B cells. 200B is just under a normal pack or vial you'd buy.
I tend to use starters to make sure the yeast is alive and viable before pitching and then once pitched, fermentation kicks off faster. There are more cells around and the batch tends to get done a little quicker. They are also necessary for bigger beers because there needs to be a lot more...
If I want mine ready as soon as possible, I'll put the PSI at 30 and roll the keg on the ground for a few minutes. After a few hours of settling, I'll do it again. The next day I'll put it at serving pressure, let it set for a bit and it's ready to go. Just make sure you have a check valve on...
I use buckets and will sanitize the hydrometer and put it right in the bucket when the wort is cooled. After all the fermentation is done, I'll do the same thing just before bottling/kegging. This has worked fine for me.
I have a friend moving and he unloaded some brewing equipment on me. I usually get my tanks filled up at a local welding shop, but he told me when he tried to get this tank filled they turned him away (not sure where he tried).
