looks Like I should just stay away from Howdy Brewer. Its to bad, they have some good prices on malt, but I don't want to deal with a hit and miss company.
Did you ever get your issue resolved? I just found Howdy Brewer and they have great prices, but I have never heard of them. Cant find much info either.
When I use beersmith it gives me mash and sparge additions separately. I measure out all the water, add all my additions, then use what I need for the mash and the rest for the sparge. Just makes it easier for me.
My first was an all grain stout kit from Brooklyn brew shop what turned out great. the next 5 however were extract kits ( that were most likely old) and were not very good. That made me go all grain.
That is what I used to do. no pics, but it worked well but was a pita because ice had to be added 2 or 3 times a day. I used frozen jugs of water or packed snow in the winter. Now I use the same pump and FTS controller, but have a DIY glycol chiller, Much easier.
Plus 1 on the 2 hydrometers plus valves, seals, hose, clamps, ect. never know what your going to need. On my last brew day i had a leaking fitting on my boil kettle and had the spare seal, saved the day!
Tested a new diy glycol chiller build tonight. Got tired of switching frozen jugs of water on my last lager. cooled water quickly, but froze up the evaporator. Glycol should be here Thursday.
I use Buddeez 12-1/2-Gallon Roll-Away Pet Food Dispenser. They are nice because they can be rolled around and a 55 Lb bag fits in them in the bag and smaller airtight containers for specialty grains. the buddeez are expensive on amazon right now, but can be found at Tractor Supply, Fleet farm, ect.
