Honestly I think that plain oxyclean versatile may work better than this mixture. It seems like I have to use a lot more of it.
Sounds like we're going to try this recipe for a barrel project. Using some kind of bourbon barrel. Going to use 04 yeast...because who wants to make a starter?
Possibly throw some vanilla beans in the mix as well. Some were talking about adding a tincture of peppers at kegging/bottling as well.
Personally I've never noticed a harsh or smooth bitterness, just bitterness. If you ask me there is no difference between hops. The difference comes from ibu amounts and the water profile.
A beer using late additions for IBU's will mask more bitterness than a beer brewed with only bittering...
