I checked the other day and both cascade and centennial broke ground. They actually did quote some time ago, I still have the leaf litter over them for now. Fluctuations in Temps are constant lately.
I started my rhysomes in pots last year since it was still a little too cold/frost last year. I got them started and brought them inside at night when it was cold, then just transplanted them a bit later.
Are you near philly? Keystone homebrew in Montgomeryville should have some. I goto the Bethlehem location, that's were I got mine from. They also had started plants as well last year. http://www.keystonehomebrew.com
I just cut the vines near the ground. They have been slowly dying anyway. They did their job and I harvested long already. No one wanted them to make a wreath.
Is it ok to have two types of hops in the same dehydrator? I have them well separated. 10 tray dehydrator centennial on top, cascade on the bottom. They are a good 2.5 to 3 in away from each other and empty tras in between.
I've used neem oil for pests, it is organic, but I think there are special times to spray. Like you have cones now, but I think since organic, it may be ok.
What temp and how long do you guys that use a dehydrator set it at? I have heard a few temps/times...one in a book said 125-135 overnight...I thought it sounded too hot and long, I did that with the first few that came off...they were like dust in the am. I bought a new 10 tray dehydrator...
I will have to pick the few cascades that were the first hop cones to form. It will only be like 10 at the most, the others are growing nicely as well as the centennial going nuts now as well. I will have to get some pics up.
Oh my god yea. I have crazy side arm action going on and the centennial is now popping off like crazy. I can't really reach mine to smell them, tried smelling my.fingers after lite squeeze tests and not smelling much.
