Yes, more concerned with too much malt bitterness/bite, not so much color specifically . I've done what you suggested (scale back to make sure dark malts are in right percentage range to base malts). My concern comes back to the malt bitterness. Since I'm taking a recipe that was meant for 5...

    PicoBrew Zymatic

Has anyone had good luck scaling recipes down from 5 gallon batch sizes, specifically stouts and imperial stouts. I entered a RIS recipe using the 5 gallon recipe quantities then entered the target OG on the Zymatic recipe crafter to get quantities for the Z. I adjusted IBUs accordingly, but...

    Long Term Storage Options

    Long Term Storage Options

Assumed too much head space, but i guess with co2 in keg itd be fine. Again only doing 2.5 gallon batches. Torpedoes are nice. AIH has some smaller kegs as well for $75

Plan on doing some imperial stout and age on oak cubes for several months. Kegs are my preference but they are expensive (need 2.5 g kegs). How would the following work? http://m.ebay.com/itm/2-5-Gallon-AIRTIGHT-FOOD-GRADE-Wide-Mouth-Plastic-Storage-Container-Barrel-/231822716283?nav=SEARCH

Still researching this unit to purchase. Final concern is over chilling wort. End of the day I want to use an immersion chiller. My thoughts are to purchase a modular keg in place of the pico provided one. Would that work? I'm assuming dimensions would be similar. When i transfer to keg. I...

    WLP644 -Brett B Trois

Thanks! I always thought I've heard that yeast is present for up to a year but was sort of freaking out. I also bottled another case with wlp645 and one with 653 and they were fine. That was my cause for concern
