I made an order with Northern Brewer last month. Everything was great, didn't use any of the new brew equipment until last weekend. I discovered two of the items were defective. Called them up, gave them the info, they shipped out replacements immediately. Easiest time reporting an issue...
My biggest failures so far as I am learning...
1) The keg was not cold enough to make this work as well as it should.
2) Shaking the keg, didn't do it...it would help immensely.
I am having the same deal right now. Trying to figure the right formula/setting to get a high amount of carbonation into my water.
Still working on it.

I brew when I want something that isn't on the shelf. That is the reason I have backed off making IPAs. There are a ton out there, and a couple meet my tastes.
My longest break was for about a year. But when time...
Good post. One question that wasn't mentioned...I see a lot of people recommend a 1/3 cup shot of priming sugar for a 5 gallon batch before kegging. What say you?
I have a Sunday brewday coming up. Doing a quick 2.5 gallon test batch on a peanut butter porter. My goal is to make a smoked reese's peanut butter cup in a beer.
I salivate just thinking about it. I was born to be a fat kid.
