    What the...Soapy Apples....Huh?

I have been noticing lately a common undertone of what I can only describe as soapy apples. Not overt but definatley there. Melbourne has extreamly soft water which is good for lager and pilszner but I cant understand this recent change in taste. What might I be inadvertantly doing to cause this?

What Homebrew books do you have?

I have the following in order of preference 1. How To Brew (John J. Palmer 3rd ed.) 2. The complete guide to Beer and Brewing (Laurie Strachan) I find "How To Brew" to be like a text book. Its a bit raw and dry but very thorough and quite deserving of its bible-like status. ""The...

First brew - didn't work out

Ditto.........Ditto.........Ditto........ Mate with all due respect. Forget everything you think you know about brewing and start again. Better still before you start again try reading How To Brew by John J. Palmer, Then start again. That book is kind of like the bible around here.

What should it look like in Secondary?

I wouldn't be drinking it that young... It is sometimes referred to as green beer when it's that young. A good amount the yeast will still be alive and active in the beer and if you drink live yeast lets just say you may be in need of rent-a-loo. At the very least you are likely to get one hell...
