Did you enter NHC round 1 (northeast region) last year? Now that was crazy. They needed like a month somehow to judge 750 entries because they pushed it back several times and even then they didnt judge two of my beers. I was furious.
Yeah? That's too bad. I have had good experiences with this competition, but have never been able to attend.
You should probably cut them some slack because I'm sure they got way more entries then they were expecting.

Thanks! 2nd year in a row. I was pretty surprised actually since the Pils that won it was only 4 weeks old (1 week in the keg).
I'll post the Munich Dunkel recipe when I get home.
I got two 1st place wins and BOS. I was hoping for the signed book, but I think they are just gonna send the $100 gift certificate since its easier to mail (not that I'm complaining of course) :-)
I think Evil Cousin is waaaay danker than Pliny. It has different hops as well. It tastes like Heretic uses Summit as well which I don't think Pliny uses (probably mostly American citrus hops)
I agree with Scott. I've had both beers several times and I actually prefer Firestone Double Jack. I had them side by side at a bar in LA (both fresh examples which is VERY important) and both me and my buddy chose DJ. I probably could have gone the other way as well. They are fairly close...
I have to say that this is definitely one of the best competitions in New York. The lady at the UPS store messed up my address and I contacted the organizers and they were more than helpful about getting my beer package if it ended up in the wrong hands. They contacted me immediately after...
