How many batches can i use this for?

The nice thing about making a starter is it provides some insurance that your yeast is good and ready to use. If it can't take off in a starter, then throwing it at 5 gallons will be a fools errand. You also can use less harvested yeast, grow it in the starter, and have a good amount to pitch...

    how long is to long

This is what I want to know. I usually can't keep myself from wanting to rush the fermentation process let alone just forgetting about a beer altogether. Sounds like a great problem to have.

Reverse Polarity Brewery - Kal Clone

Did you solder the copper manifold? Currently mine is just dry fitted together which makes cleaning easy, but I worry about pieces coming apart during re-circulation. Unfortunately with shipping, that sjoow on ebay is even more than what the seller on amazon wants, even though it is 50'...

Reverse Polarity Brewery - Kal Clone

You have the exact system that I want to build. I had a question. When you are sparging with the copper manifold in the coolor, do you have any problems with stuck sparges? I didn't know if recirculating with the manifold would be more problematic than using a false bottom.

Good price on some 10/3 wire

The recommendation given from theelectricbrewery.com We use a 10 gauge wire with 3 separate conductors, called "10/3" wire: Two conductor carry each of the 120 VAC "hot" lines to produce the 240 VAC the element uses, while the third will is used as a ground. It's important that everything be...

Good price on some 10/3 wire

its going to be used to connect my heating elements in my kettles to my control box, which will all reside in my garage, if that helps at all. Just out of curiosity, what does S.O. stand for?

Good price on some 10/3 wire

its for an electric brewing setup so it just needs to be pretty tough. The Electric Brewery recommends wire rated for outdoor use, so that is what I am working off of. I think water resistant is one of the suggestions as well. Also, I wouldn't be asking on here if I found it on google, I just...

Good price on some 10/3 wire

The prices I have seen have been like $50 for 25ft which seems pretty steep for bulk wire. Has anyone found a place that sells 10/3 wire rated for outdoor use?

    Keggle question

Agreed, are you planning on doing HERMS or RIMS in the future? Do you know what your process is going to look like on a brew day? I would get an idea of exactly what you need before getting things just arbitrarily welded.

I really need a new kettle

I have the same thing happen in my keggle, crazy how much foam can build up in a very short amount of time. I just stir like crazy to keep it at bay.

HERMS and a Copper manifold in the MLT

I am still in the R&D phase of an E-HERMS build and was wondering about the viability of using my current Mash tun with some minor modifications. My biggest concern is the manifold I use. I have a Coleman extreme 70qt cooler with a copper manifold going into a bulkhead. The manifold is...

Wort chiller - no sink hook up, other alternatives?

I have one of those drill powered pumps and they are a pain to use. If you absolutely don't want to tee into your cold water supply (best option in my opinion) then getting a submersible pump and letting it run while you match the flow with your faucet would be easier. It takes a pretty decent...

Not sure I hit my temp...

For those of us who have had this happen, after the damage is done, is your only option to just press on and file that mistake away for the next one or is there some sort of corrective action you should be taking? I have always just pressed on.
