Looking to buy first Grain Mill

Ah, yeah. The cereal killers I've seen had bronze bushings. Looks like they have bearings now. The wing nuts look like the same cheap feeling ones on my kegco. $99 for this seems like a good deal. The 3 roller kegco just has a bigger hopper and maybe bigger roller diameters?

Looking to buy first Grain Mill

I really like my Kegco KM11GM-3R. It feels pretty solid compared to the cereal crusher and other cheaper mills. The wing nuts are a bit cheap feeling, otherwise it seems on par with the MM-3, but smaller diameter rollers. I am running it with the HF heavy duty low speed drill. I have a bit under...

    Stout Recipe Feedback

Just following up here. It is now carbed up and quite tasty. Nothing fantastic, but very drinkable. Has a nice mouthfeel, but still lacking a bit of what I want. Has a black opaque look, but is really a deep red color and crystal clear. Head is tan with a nice thickness to it. This yeast gives...

Blending mashes with grains at different temps vs step mash

How was the beer? Any difference from previous batches?

    Stout Recipe Feedback

I didn't want to go with oats as I am not fond of oatmeal stouts. I went ahead with this as-is. It just went into secondary to finish up before crash cooling and carbing. My initial thoughts are that it is not as roasted as what I was after, but the mouthfeel is quite nice. Mostly has a...

    Kegco Mill?

I mentioned earlier in the thread. But mine came with sealed bearings, not bushings. So, seems they may have changed a design. The flat for a set screw is for the handle, but should work with a pulley. But only if you want a permanent table. Drill works great to remain portable and this thing...

    Kegco Mill?

You will need a 1/2" drill to run it. The shaft is 1/2" and has three sides flattened for a drill chuck as well as a flat keyway for a set screw. It needs to be a pretty high torque drill and low speed. I run mine with this one...

    Stout Recipe Feedback

I'm putting together a simple stout recipe I'd like some feedback on. What I am after is a low ABV fairly dry stout that has a thicker mouth feel and a nice balance. I like the roasted barley flavor, but want something that has the mouth feel of a sweet stout. The idea is a simple Pale...

3-in-1 "Boil Kettle, Jacketed Chiller, Conical Fermenter" by Brewha

That is one reason I went with the top port route. It allows me to recirc from the racking port through the top and the trub will settle in the bottom and can be dropped out. Another option is a hop filter such as this: https://www.brewershardware.com/FILTER1-Testing.html

3-in-1 "Boil Kettle, Jacketed Chiller, Conical Fermenter" by Brewha

As others mentioned, chill speed. For me it is 50m to 60F from boil down to 30m with recirculation from bottom through racking port. Hoping the whirlpool will do a bit better as it will spin along the cold sides. Additionally I want to hook up an inline hop filter to clean up hops and trub.

3-in-1 "Boil Kettle, Jacketed Chiller, Conical Fermenter" by Brewha

I ended up building a whirlpool arm out of an old 1/2" stainless racking cane and a few triclamp parts from brewhardware.com This mounts to a top port and allows pumping from bottom port through the tube. The compression fitting in the middle is just snug so it can be moved up and down and...
