Picked up the ingredients to brew this on next Saturday. I'll follow the recipe exactly for the first go. I'll end up kegging this too. I'm excited, after a year of brewing this will be my first "big beer" and my first AG IPA. Done a few other extract IPAs and about half a dozen AG BIAB.
cheers!
Had pretty good brew day. Overshot my target OG by a point so I'm a little worried it might be a little too boozy/hot. Other than that I hit all my temps/volumes. This is my first time using washed yeast so hopefully I'll get some good airlock activity. I washed some US-05 from the last batch...
Kegged 5 gal of Lemon Lime Hef, and 5 gal of Honey Nut Brown, and added a four port manifold and new lines to my keggerator. Upgraded my serving capacity from one to four. I only have three kegs for this weekend's cookout though... Looks like I need to get brewing!!!
Just kegged a batch tonight. If it's as good kegged as it is from the bottle it will be gone in no time! I can't wait for it to carb up, I only have four bottles of the first batch left!
On my first batch (currently brewing my second), I saw an initial boost in fermentation after I added the limeade for about 24hrs. After that it died back down pretty quickly and there wasn't any additional visible signs of fermentation (i.e. bubbles coming out of my blow off tube). The yeast...
When I checked the gravity at Day 12 there was still krausen remnants, but by Day 14 it had completely fallen in. I know US-05 likes to hang around.
As far as gelatin, it is a clearing agent that you add to cold beer a few days before kegging or bottling. Here is a thread...
Been about a week since I kegged my first batch. Since then I've had plenty, and given away just as much. While I wouldn't normally call this beer my favorite style (more of an IPA fan), I do really enjoy it. It came out crystal clear (I used whirlfolc and gelatin), and tastes very clean and...
Brew day this morning went great. Hit all my temps/gravities. Now all I need to do is get motivated enough to clean out and clean up my free side-of-the-road freezer and wire up my STC-1000 I picked up for it so I can lager. Assuming I get that done sometime today/tomorrow I'll be brewing a...
Brewed my second batch this morning. I started heating up my strike water at 5:30AM and was all done by 8:30AM. I had some things I had to take care of today, and SWMBO has a friend coming in from out of town and didn't want me off in my own little brewing world being anti-social :D So I did...
I started heating my strike water at 5:30AM due to my SWMBO's friend coming in town today (last minute), and us heading out of town for 10 days starting Friday. So essentially it was now or never! I have about 10 mins left on boil!
I also have a doctor's appointment today, so I was forced to...
