    Temp controlled fermenter

I too have been looking for small mini fridge to act as a fermenter. I made a kezeer out of a deep freezer and a temperature controller, but am having a difficult time finding one that fits my carboy. I'd still like to retain the 6.5 gallon size. Of all the mini fridges I have seen, the...

I'm confused about new refractometer and ATC auto temperature correction...

I recently just bought the same refractometer from AHS, and have noticed a disparity between my refractometer and hydrometer. After adjusting the hydrometer reading for the temperature, the corrected specific gravity is approx .006~.008 points above the refractometer's corrected specific...

American Pale Ale Nierra Sevada (Session SNPA Clone)

Unfortunately, I didn't write down the gravity reading, but it was taken after the sparge. The one I was confused with was the starting fermentation gravity of 1.029. This was taken after the post-boil wort had cooled to approx room temp of 75 degrees.

American Pale Ale Nierra Sevada (Session SNPA Clone)

I was planning on mashing at 155, however by the time I added the grains, it went down to about 145. I was able to bring up the temp by adding some hot water, but I was limited in by the tun's head space. Final mash temp held right around 149. Would this drop of 6 degrees make that much of a...

American Pale Ale Nierra Sevada (Session SNPA Clone)

Took an initial gravity reading immediately after the mash, but I didn't account for the temp. The actual OG going into the fermenter was at around 75F.

American Pale Ale Nierra Sevada (Session SNPA Clone)

First time poster in need of some help! This was my first all-grain batch, and my OG was WWAAAAAAAYYYYYY too low (1.029). I've read John Palmer's book several time (actually, I'm again going over the Mash chapter right now) and thought I had done everything right, but something obviously didn't...

Guide to set internal chest freezer thermostat to >32F; Eliminate external control

Yep, same here. It was holding good for about a day or two, but a glass of water inside started to freeze over very slowly. With the coarse screw all the way in, I started adjusting the top screw to bring it back to warmer conditions, but just a small turn of that screw (either in or out)...

Guide to set internal chest freezer thermostat to >32F; Eliminate external control

Holiday 7 cu ft bought from Lowes last weekend. Read this thread before I purchased in the hopes it would work. Unfortunately, I have adjusted the screw all the way in, and all the way out (or almost all the way), with the fine adjustment screw at both 1 and 7. Every setting still freezes...
