    Multiple towers, single cooling fan?

Thanks! I think for what little computer fans cost, I'd be further ahead wiring up 4 to run together. I'll try to concoct something like you have here.

    Multiple towers, single cooling fan?

Howdy. I'm looking to convert chest freezer into a keezer. For aesthetic reasons, She Who Must Be Obeyed decided on 4 angled top towers. I'm wondering about cooling the lot of them. Should I get a fan for each or could I get away with 2 and divide each airflow into two towers? Also, I'm...

Naming a beer, does it matter?

I've started naming beers after I've noticed that my friends who drank it haven't died, been hospitalized, barfed on my floor, sued me or beat me up. I only keg, and so I need to get some kind of display board for them. My bar downstairs is done up in a cheesy gangster Jazz era style and is...

    Hey Hey from Alberta, Canada

Howdy MHBeer! I'm in Lethbridge. Not sure what sort of brew store is there in Medicine Hat, but if you get to Calgary stop by the Vineyard, it has lots of good stuff. I end up ordering ingredients etc. online. I've never been been disappointed ordering from Hop Dawgs or Ontario Beer Kegs.

    Don't Do That.

Drop your big ole' thermometer into the BIAB mash. Don't do that. Then dig for it with a long BBQ tong thing that has little serrations on the end for some BBQ reason or another and your grain bag is...well... fragile. :smack: Don't do that, either. PSI got my thermometer back...

    First IPA Recipe Attempt

Thanks! I will cut the amber down to ca. 3%. Except for on more packet of the yeast, this is going to be a Buy Nothing brew, so adding Honey Malt is out for a bit of sweetness is out, but I might try a mid 150*s mash. I will rethink the hops. I do have some centential and some homegrown Cascade...

    First IPA Recipe Attempt

Finally decided to make a hoppy beer. I'm fairly new at making recipes up and after some snooping around online, I came up with the recipe below based on what I have available at home. Any advice, corrections, warnings and mockery will be gratefully received. This is the first brew I'll make...

    Bavarian Lager Advice.

Howdy, I know I should have started my lager for Oktoberfest in March to be traditional, but life, general confusion, and forgetting everything I bought and hid in the fridge, intervened, and now I'm stuck with my W.Y. 2206 expiring soon, so I have to use it up. I'd be grateful for any advice...

Do you always make a mess?

I brew on the deck and by the time I'm finished there is usually a mucky track from the patio door to the kitchen and the all sorts of sticky stuff on the deck. I've started running my wort chiller into my mash cooler, rinsing off the sides, and when it has several gallons in it, I open its...

What I did for beer today

Got my first ever lager into to a keg to secondary and put it back in my lagering freezer. Kegged my cream ale and stuck it in there two. Tapped a keg of witbier. Tonight I'll make some cider.

    Squeezer

I'm a squeezer. I found this big colander on Amazon that fits my kettle nearly perfectly. I use some neoprene BBQ gloves and work on it for 15 minutes or so. I have very little water retention, but I need more accurate measurements. I suspect it is no more than .4 gallon with ca. 10 lb of grain...

Something's gone wrong, or right, or something...

Thanks for the advice, folks. I will be measuring everything very carefully from now on.

Something's gone wrong, or right, or something...

Howdy. I hope someone could shed some light on what's been going on with the volumes and OG of my latest brew. I'm still not used to Brew Smith's volume calculator, and I think my boil-off is really inconsistent, but I'm still getting really high OGs and more than enough beer into the...

    Temp Controller Advice

Howdy, I'm turning my small (ca. 7 cu. ft) deep freezer into a fermentation chamber with an STC 1000. The freezer says it draws 3 amps. I don't know much about electricity but I've read that freezers can draw much more than their rated amperage at startup. Should I wire up a relay to protect...

First brew day; 2 Catastrophes - Both w/ Wort Chiller

Last brew day in February I stuck my wort chiller in the kettle to sanitize it and didn't notice that the vinyl discharge tube was touching the outside of the kettle near the bottom. Melted a good chunk of it to the pot. One emergency cut and reconnect later and all was well, but I did burn a...
