    Exploring "no chill" brewing

I no-chilled in the kettle for my first no-chill batch. I just put the lid on, brought it inside and pitched 24 hours later. It's still fermenting; no sign of infection. No-chilling in the kettle does have some additional risks and won't work for long-term storage, but it would eliminate flavor...

Sorry, no boxes left over to use for shipping.

Have not had to change the battery yet. It turns off automatically after around 30 sec. I tried to leave enough space so the battery could be accessed, but I figured at $10 a pop, I could always just install another small thermometer if that one ever died.

Drilled a hole just slightly smaller than the probe. Swabbed some aquarium silicone inside the hole with a toothpick, wiggled the thermometer(s) in, wiped off excess silicone from probe with rubbing alcohol, applied a small amount of JB Weld to the exterior part of the probe (the part touching...

Yep, they're priced to sell. I was going to trash since I'm moving to a smaller place, but then I realized that they were meant to make beer and deserved a good home :D

I don't have any spare boxes big enough to pack the MLT in, so by the time I factor in the cost of a box that size, packing material, plus $hipping something of that size (dimensional weight), it would easily cost $100+, in which case you would be better off buying new from a brew shop. I'm...

Moving to smaller place, not brewing as much as I used too, looking to sell the following items via local pickup (in Roswell, Shallowford & Johnson Ferry area). I'm posting them here exclusively to allow HBTers first dibs before listing on spam ridden Craigslist. Message me at...

I dont like one of my LHBS

My LHBS is the same way, I don't know why they sell kegging equipment (they never know what I'm referring to when I ask if they carry keg posts or corny lids). Luckily I've been able to order from online suppliers (most of the time, the price was better even when you include shipping) Now that...

    spring loaded peristaltic pump proto

That is awesome, virtually no pulsating in the output and I'm sure the hose is easy to remove due to the "springed" rollers design.

    Just an observation

Kind of like the evil monkey in Chris's closet (from "Family Guy") :) I've stopped using StarSan in my airlocks for this very reason. To OP, why not get a cheap box fan to make some white noise? I got one to block out the noise of my ANNOYING neighbors (constant yelling and piano playing) and...

    Weldless Bulkhead

I don't understand why the o-ring isn't on the kettle wall; won't water/wort just leak out from the two washers? Why not use silicone sealing washers between the washer's and the kettle wall?

    spring loaded peristaltic pump proto

When and if I build one, that was my plan. A manual powered peristaltic. Wouldn't work for a RIMS/HERMS but it would be a good workout for a simple transfer.
