I also bought mine for that 20% off deal on NB last week and had my first brew Sunday. Was a hoppy brew with 7oz of hops in the kettle. No clogs at all...ran like a champ and I hit target gravity spot on which I never do, so that's a pleasant surprise! No boil problems as I switched it over to...

It's a little high in sulfates for my taste. I might back down the gypsum a bit to get closer to the 250pm range. Other than that, this looks good to me!

So, I just purchased "The Grainfather" electric brew setup to allow me to brew indoors at a relatively low risk and I will be trying out a new recipe this Sunday. I am currently cleaning the system and getting everything prepped for Sunday. I have read too many "NE IPA" forum posts and cryptic...

Forgot to post but i did a room temp hydro reading of two bottle samples and got 1.016 on both of them. The abv is 5.8% so someone can do the math for the og.

I have 5 more bottles so I will do that next time I open one...probably this weekend.

Drinking a bottle of Sue now and glad found this thread. It's a bit hazy and also has a fairly thick mouthfeel for this style. Soooo good and juicy. Can't wait to try out this recipe!

Quick question that I'm sure has been answered...why when I put the recipe into BeerSmith do I get 92+ IBUs for the extract version? Is there something obvious that I am screwing up? Thanks!

Oh yea...forgot that...added the other 5lbs at 10min to go. Thanks for the other pointers! I will test the boil tonight and also make sure my burner/gas works and all that fun stuff.
