    1 gallon biab?

I like to brew 1 gallon biab batches to dial in recipes that I really enjoy and also because I like a variety. I'm the only one drinking the beer so I don't like having a lot of one recipe. Today I heated up my oven to the lowest setting (170), placed my 5 gallon pot with my mash in it, turned...

How long does it take you to do a 1 gallon batch?

    Topping wort off.

I brewed this recipe again, but I only boiled for 60 min this time. I uploaded some pics of the brew day. I ended up with less than a gallon of wort after my boil, so I topped off to 1 gallon and ended up at 1.052. I'm good with that. I will get this dialed in soon enough. I have one question...

    Topping wort off.

I appreciate the reply. I'm all for saving time so going forward it will be a 60 min boil.

    Topping wort off.

Its safe to say, in your experience, boiling pilsner for 60 min has not caused any issues? Your absolutely right about beersmith. I used a generic profile for my equipment and kind iui f just winged it. Lesson learned. I'm going to brew this exact beer again with a 60 min boil and an updated...

    Topping wort off.

Ill have to pick up a refractomer. The gentleman at the LHBS said when making pilsner to boil for 90 min because of DMS.

    slow fermentation

Actually, your absolutely right. I use a refractometer. I just bought it and this is the first batch I have used it on. I'm going to look into those calculators, thats good info. Thanks!

    slow fermentation

This was an extract. When I take my gravity readings it tastes amazing, I am still hoping it ferments more.

    slow fermentation

I brewed a DIPA on 6/11 and had an og of 1.072 and checked the gravity today and it's 1.034. I brewed this last minute and I usually oxygenate with pure oxygen and a stainless steel stone but I barely had any left. I shook it as much as I could and put a pindrop of vegetable oil in the wort...

    sg too low.

Thank you all for your responses. I assumed it would mix up while I topped it off. But all of your responses make perfect sense. This hasn't really happened before so I was thrown off my the og measurement and freaked out .

    sg too low.

The temperature was 70 degrees. Sorry, I wrote my post very fast, I did a partial boil and cooled down and transferred to my primary bucket. I then added water to make five gallons. I did not mix the wort after I filled it with water.

    sg too low.

Hello, today was the second time I brewed a extract kit and when I topped my fermenting bucket and the SG was off a lot. I brewed a bsg dark saison today that was supposed to have a SG of 1.060 and it when I took the reading it was 1.034. The kit came with 2 x 3.3lb Cans of pilsen lme and 1lb of...
