Surprise me, if I win. I am forced to brew xtracts these days.

I haven't bought one yet. I keep waiting for someone to tell me something good about it, and so far all I have been able to find out is it's available.

I use aquarium stones, stored in vodka between batches. I get four stones for about 2 dollars and replace as needed. I have had one infection since the seventies and I don't think it was related to the stone.

I found a boa in the smoker, years ago. Pretty good sized one, I figured somebody released it when it got too big.

A number of things contribute to systems loss. I usually lose at least 1to 1 1/2 qts to trub and another qt to samples. Dry hops soak up some more. So a gallon isn't too far off. My last batch started out a 6 1/2 gallons and I ended up with 56 bottles. What are you using for a fermentor?

The folks at More Beer are selling a thing called a turbo boiler, 2000 watts. Has anyone out there used one? It would work well for my situation.
