Just uploaded my ebook "A Good Hobby, Mashed: A Journey from Homebrewer to Craft Brewery Owner"

Just finished the book this morning. I haven't finished a whole book in 10 years! It took me 3 days. Thank you. My dream is much like the others, to one day go pro and retire from my "real" job. It is amazing how it seems like the actual "brewing", the thing most of us love the most, is a tiny...

    Allagash Brewing Little Brett Clone

When I was at Allagash a few years back on a brewery tour, I asked the girl pouring the samples about the brett strain. She said it was a proprietary strain cultured just for them. She called it brett A. (For Allagash). She also said they filter it out at bottling and replace it with something...

Is the back of my Frigidaire keezer freon free?

I used a mixture of water and cornstarch mixed to form a paste. Spread it around the area you want to drill of a running freezer. The coolant lines, if present, will be revealed. Sent from my SM-G860P using Home Brew mobile app

What to brew with WLP644 (Brett Trois)

I just finished the keg off last week of the wlp644 beer I made 6 months ago. I called it a brett porter, for lack of a better term. It was 1.045og second runnings from an imperial stout. 100% 644 fermentation. Holy balls! One of the best I've made. Usually my 2nd runnings beers are thin, and...

    Pelicle on starter?

Exactly my thought. I'll just have to pitch some S-23 instead. Might save a gallon and pitch part of that starter to see what happens. This was wyeast 2007 from a previous batch that I attempted to revive. That batch turned out fine. I'm thinking the bugs took hold in the flask cause I just have...

    Pelicle on starter?

Getting ready to cool my lager starter down to pitching temp and it looks like there is a pelicle on the top. Am I seeing that correctly?

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Creme Brulee Stout

When you say the caramelizing takes a long time, what's a rough time frame? Is it an hour or is it five hours? I tried this but it was such a pain and made a mess of my pans. It took several hours to get past the solidified white blob. Is this normal?

    ph meter or thermapen?

Thanks for the link. I hadn't even thought of that as a solution. Just finished an amber of sorts and got 73%. Acceptable, but not the 83% I used to get (well water at my old house).

    ph meter or thermapen?

Maybe if I dig into the couch and return some empties I can also get that thermometer brewinBromanite uses. I like the idea of 24" length.

    ph meter or thermapen?

Finding a good ph meter seems a bit overwhelming because of the price ranges and mixed reviews on every one. I'm leaning toward the Milwaukee mw101.

    ph meter or thermapen?

Off flavors are the main issue. I am thinking lower efficiency on a few batches might be related, which has been steering me toward ph meter. Most of my off flavored batches are with tap water which is why I try to buy water. I did make a simple extract mosaic blonde a couple weeks ago that has...
