- Tasting Notes
- Nice mouthfeel and beautiful tan head. No roastiness. Hop aroma heavy in citrus and floral.
I always wanted to give Falconers Flight a shot, so I bought a pound and brewed up a single hop (blend) Black IPA. The beer turned out really well. The one thing worth noting, The Falconers Flight took a little extra time to mellow in the keg then my usual IPA's do. They have a little more floral quality then I am used to in an IPA, but it really became nice after about 10 days in the keg. It's turned into a really solid, different IPAish beer.
10# 2 Row
2# Flaked Oats
1.25# Midnight Wheat
1# Cane Sugar
Mashed at 149 for 75 min
60 minute boil with all Falconers Flight additions:
.5 oz @ FWH
1 oz @10
2.5 oz @FO (15 min)
4 oz @ Whirlpool (@170 for 30 min)
Pitched Imperial Dry Hop @ 66. After 2 days set to 68. Then finished at 70
Added 5 oz Falconers Flight on day 4 of fermentation
Added 1.5 oz Falconer's Flight to Serving Keg.
Force Carbed (required a little extra time mellowing out in the keg)
Cheers!
