Mark, at Golden Valley, created a new style last year. He took his IPA and aged it in wine barrels, then loaded in some sugar and bottled it methode champagne. The result was an IPA of amazing complexity and 9.5 ABV. (bloody expensive though) He did it again this year and Pelican Brewing chimed in with their Bridal Vail Brut (with his assistance). I suspect this style will be seen in more breweries over the next few years, as it is a wonderful holiday alternative to pale fizzy wine.

Should you be so lucky to be in the area (McMinneville Oregon), they have a few barrels on tap as well.

Mark released this year's batch on the 16th. I grabbed a case. Buy 10 get two free. Almost trashed my back getting it into the house. Good thing I have lots of pain killers on tap.
