I made some beer this weekend from my rain barrel. Just poured it into pot boiled while I made beer. Just wondering if Anyone has tried this and with what kinds of results. I fig boiling for a hr would kill anything plus alcohol would help too
 
Depending on how clean your barrel is I would assume the water is cleaner than most municipal water. The only drawback is not knowing the mineral content if any.
