I will be attending a group brew day and a local brewery is supplying everyone with premade 2row wort with a OG of 1.050. I was wondering how I can add specialty malts to this. I know steeping is an option but can you steep ~6lb of specialty malt? I want to turn this premade wort into a porter.

No I won't be mashing any other base malts. Ill just be using 5.5 gal of the premade wort. I used beer calculus and if I steep the 6lb it should bring me to 1.070 according to them. 6lb does seem like alot and I was wondering if people do actually steep this much grain.

Don't steep 6 pounds of specialty malts. If you want to add gravity, do a SEPARATE mash with some base grains and a little specialty malt and add THAT to your beer. 6 pounds of specialty malt is waaay too much.
