Can i just boil and make a tea, then pour into the bottling bucket? Or do i need to take other steps?

I just did a hibiscus mead and all I did was steep the tea bags in water like you would to make a cup of tea. I just did it for a few hours.

A lot of "tea" recipes I've read steep at flameout and/or with the priming sugar before bottling. Both these methods should preserve the floral aroma and keep everything sanitary. I'd drink it young, aging tends to break down aromatic hydrocarbons.

i added at flameout (would have to check notes for amount) and it added a nice pink hue and solid background flavor

I pulled a gallon from the car boy and and added a cup or so of strong tea to it. I dry hopped with it too. Ill wait and see i guess. If it fails i still have ~3.5 gallons of citra ipa.
