Made a batch of pale ale, all grain batch. The sediment in the bottom of the bottles has turned a purplish color. The beer still tastes good. Anyone know what/why there is this purple sediment. Never happened before. Ed

Purple? Must be those Easter gumdrops that your kids dropped in the bottles.
Seriously, I have not a clue. There's not too many bacteria that produce a purple color(pseudomonas is all i can think of) and they don't like beer pHs. Sorry can't be of help, but I'm sure going to check back.

Did quite a bit of hop matter (from pellets) get into the fermenter? When the green/brownness of hop matter mixes with yeast and other break material, it can throw off a purple hue.
