I brewed the following recipe with WLP099, fermented @ 65F.
9lbs Pale Ale
.5lb Crystal 40
.25 Carapils
1lb Simplicity Candi Syrup (10 min. boil)
All New Zealand Hops
IBU 45.10
BU:GU 0.79
.5 Rakau 30 min [11.2AA]
.5 Motueka 10 min [7AA]
.5 Wakatu 10 min [7AA]
.5 Cascade 10 min [7AA]
.5 Citra 10 min [11AA]
.5 Rakau 10 min [11.2AA]
Dry Hop one week with all remaining .5 oz.
Fermented down to 0.999. Approximately 6.35% ABV.
Very Citrusy and Fruity but it has a slight sweet after taste.
Is this what Candi Syrup does or do I need more early hop additions? Perhaps it was the hops that contributed to the sweet after taste?
