A buddy of mine gave me some bottles of a stout of his and I feel like adding some coffee would really make this something special. Is it possible to pop one open, pour a little out, and add some cold pressed coffee straight into the bottle, then re-cap it with a fresh cap?

If so, how long should I wait before opening it to try?

If not, why not?

At this point, why not just add a half shot of espresso when you pour it? I'm not sure what you'd gain by opening the bottles, dumping a bit out, adding coffee, possibly re-priming, and waiting around.

I didn't know if it required any amount of time to mix with the beer or not.

Just pour some coffee into the glass, don't bother with putting it in the bottle. Last night I opened some of the Founder's Breakfast Stout clones I made and put 2 capfulls of whiskey into the glass. It kind of tasted like KBS! I think doing this with coffee would give you similar results.
