Can a 10 inch (diameter) pot get to boil on a 7 inch vitroceramic hob?

I guess the hob is about 1200 watt strong.....but the pot will be 3 inches off the actual hob. Can it get to a full boil that way? There will be 2.5 gallons of wort in the pot and it is made of aluminium.

I know an easy way to find out - try it :) If you want to test it ahead of brew day, use water.


Choco....I wont buy the pot if experienced people say it wont work. :) Things are freaking expensive in Spain. A 10 gallon stainless steel pot costs about 150 dollars here.
