I'm going to be starting an ESB soon and I'm thinking of using the following schedule:

Bittering: 1 ounce Fuggles 60 minutes
Flavor: 1 ounce Challenger 20 minutes
Aroma: 1 ounce Willamette flame out

Does it look like it'll work or should I somehow change it and why? Still trying to get a grasp on how to take control of my hops.

Thanks so much!

Looks fine. The best way to learn hops and how to use them is simply that, experimenting and taking note of what you do. One of the best things you can do is start keeping a log of your brews & tasting notes to go with it. You will learn best from your experience through that.

I would swap the Challenger at 60 minutes and use the Fuggles at 20. You'll lose almost all of Fuggles' aromatic qualities if used as a bittering hop.

Will I keep some of the spicy aroma from the Challenger if it goes the full 60 or do you think the Fuggles will compensate?
