This will be my first IIPA
I'm going to make a 4L yeast starter with WLP001
The Special B is there for the orangish color and I do like caramel notes
I selected the hops based on what I have on hand, but I'm open to suggestions. I would prefer to burn through what I have first though.
I'll dry hop with 2oz Simloe/2oz Bravo
Ferment around @ 65-67 for 21 days primary

Notes:

the only thing that i can see that is weird is your evaporation rate and batch size. Your doing a 90 min boil and only losing .75 gal but your trub and hop lose is 1.25 gal

Yea volumes are a little funky. I would probably FWH (usually a personal preference of mine and my IIPAs have come out great). Other than that, this looks like its going to be a tasty brew.

The volumes are something I've been having issues with.

I usually put .5g to trub in the boil pot and .2g in the fermenter, but with the amount of hops in this batch I assumed there would be more.

I haven't been able to nail a boil off rate.

Hopefully someone can help me plug these value into Beersmith.

I brew with a 45,000 btu burner in a 15.5g keggle.

With 18lbs of 2 row, you probably don't need the Carapils.

I would take out a pound of 2 row and sub in Sugar to dry it out a bit.

I agree about subbing in some sugar but you can leave the carapils. My IIPA (10 gal) uses 1.5# of carapils and is delicious. The SpecB seems out of place to me but if that's your thing, go with it.

Your recipe looks fun! I don't know if you've tried yet, but to get a decent idea of boil off rates you might want to try boiling a measured amount of water for an hour. After the hour let it cool and find out how much evaporated. This will be you boil off rate. Doesn't matter if it's 5 gallons or 10. The important thing to replicate is the state of the boil in each brew. The more vigorous the more liquid lost so whatever vigor the water test boil is has to be the same for the wort boil. I used to worry about ambient humidity levels but found they really are insignificant.
