I decided to try growing some cascade hops this year. I started the plants inside & just moved them outside last week. I used miracle grow potting soil, thinking this would provide the right nutrients, but the other day, the leaves started getting white spots on them which are now spreading (see attached pics). It kind of looks like powdery mildew, but I'm just not really sure. Any ideas?

Before any more time passes, I'd call my nearest University Extension Service.
Did you get the plants, rhizomes from a reputable source?

Hey Al,

I got them from my local brewshop where I get all my brewing stuff. I'm kind of a newbie at all this...just started brewing about 6 months ago, so I guess I just thought a rhizome was a rhizome.

Relax, it is not powdery mildew.

You said you just moved them outside from indoors? Your damage looks like sunscald or frost damage, maybe windburn. Basically, it looks like your leaves are having a tough time coping with the great outdoors. Those leaves are not coming back, but the plant will be fine.
