I pulled the trigger on some rhizomes and then built this to let 'em climb.

Cascade, Centennial and Columbus (I hope) :)

SWMBO took 1 look at it and said "you're not gonna hang somebody on that , are ya?" LMAO

Quick question for everyone. Is there any limit on how many bines you allow to climb the trellis? All my rhizomes produced either 2 or 3 shoots and are headed for the twine.
thanks

For your first year, let them go crazy. You want as much green leaf surface as possible to get the most amount of energy into the ground to help the crown get established. I recommend not cutting any bines. (You can trim off the bottom couple feet of leaves off the bines once they've reached 6-7' to keep insects from finding a home in the damp protected area at the bottom of your bines.) :mug:

Cascade is growing nice , shown at almost three feet.
Oddly enough . The Columbus is just two feet tall, followed by the
Centennial at one foot

progress report:

Cascade is now at approx 7 feet .
Centennial about 5 feet up the trellis.
Columbus sadly just 3 feet tall .

They all get the same amount of water and sunlight ... and planted in the same soil mix.
Anyone have similar experiences?
