I am planning to brew a Hop Rod Rye clone recipe from Brew Your Own Magazine. The recipe is all grain, but it includes an extract version.specifically, it replaces a large portion of the two row malt with DME, but doesn't specify when to add it. Any suggestions? Thanks.

add it late, like 5 min left in the boil. If you add it early you can get some extracty flavors. I know some guys who add all of the extract at flame out. The crushed grains will give your hops something to bond to.

If there's any 2-row left in the recipe,it'll have to be a partial mash. Easy enough to do with a 5G paint strainer bag. Since my PM's mashed wort is 50% of the fermentables,I use that sparged up to 3.5G in my 5G BK/MT to do hop additions. Whether I use DME or LME in that case,it gets added as a flame out addition. Works pretty well.
