i have a recipe which calls for caramel malt 170l and 190l, has anyone any ideas as to where i can find this
 
Wow never seen anything that dark. Closest I've come across would be English extra dark like this at 160L. What are you making?
 
Yea, I've never heard of such a dark crystal malt. English extra dark is the darkest I've seen. Typo? Also, why would you want to use two dark malts so similar in color? Can you post the recipe?
 
Pale Malt – 76.9
Malted Rye – 9.6
Caramel 170L – 3.3
Caramel 190L – 3.3
Honey Naked Oats – 5.9
Midnight Wheat – 1.1

These are the percentages for boulevard coffee ale
 
I think you would be okay subbing the English extra dark crystal for the 170+190, and maybe upping the midnight wheat just a tad.
