I'm getting ready to do my first AG recipe. Is distilled water ok to use? Just want to get through my first recipe to get the basics down. Thanks in advance.

If you have city water, I would use that and treat with campden tablets, you don't want to lose all the minerals in the water, just the chlorine. If you do want to use bottled water, I would go with spring or purified water, not distilled

Distilled water is fine for use as a starting point, but you should add calcium via a gypsum or calcium chloride addition. See the Water Primer sticky in the Brewing Science forum. A more thorough discussion is presented on the Water Knowledge page of the Bru'n Water website.
