I have used wyeast 1056 for a couple years now. Lately, in the past six months or so, I have noticed it has become significantly aggressive. When making 1L starters in a 2L flask, if I use a stir plate it's crazy. Even without a stir plate I have problems keeping it under control. I can barely get three hours after I "smack" the pack before it looks like it is close to exploding. When I finally do cut it, it sounds like I have punctured a tire.

Same thing with fermentation. I make 5 gallon batches and I have a 6.5 carboy. A blowoff is absolutely necessary. Fermentation is very rapid. I'm not complaining, just out of curiosity I am wondering if anyone else has been experiencing this?? Thanks in advance.
