Found out the puree at my lhbs is $22. Sulpher free apricots are way cheaper. I was thinking i could plump them in vodka and add to secondary. Anyone know if it will work the same? Aroma, flavor etc.?

All the dried fruit I see around tends to be sulfited pretty heavily to keep them from browning, but you can find a preservative free dried fruit, it might work.

I used dried cranberries in a dark Saison

Still one of the best beers I ever made....need to make that again

I soaked in spiced rum....mainly to give it some more spiceness with the Saison yeast...the tartness of the cranberries balanced this quite well

A few in my brew club thought the dried cranberries could cause some issues with head retention but never experience it...

I think you are good to give it a whirl. Can't imagine apricots being any different than cranberries
