I'm not 100% sure on the times for this beer, but I doubt I deviated far from my standard 3 weeks in the fermenter and at least 3 weeks in the bottle. If you have a good fermentation, you could easily pull the fermenter time back to 2 weeks.

I really enjoyed this beer. I should convert the recipe to all grain and brew it again. Let me know how yours turns out. :mug:

I was thinking about fermenting for 2 weeks in plastic and a second 2 weeks in glass. Maybe I'll simply do 3 weeks in glass.

This batch should be ready around the 1st of June. I'll post the results.

Just did:

5 lbs. Pils
3.5 lbs. Wheat Malt
1 lb. Flaked Wheat
1/2 lb. carapils

1/2 oz. Hallertau (4%) @ 60
1/2 oz. @ 20
1/2 oz. @ 10
1/2 oz. @ 5

1 oz. Lemon Zest @ 10 (about 2 large lemons)
5 grams Grains of Paradise @ 5

Mashed at 152 overnight, 90 minute boil, wlp29 1.75 qt. starter.
OG: 1.052

Anyone have a recipe that is a clone of Sam Adams Summer Ale?

I did the ASH summer ale clone a couple weeks ago it was all grain
this is what they sent me

6 Lbs 2-row
4 lbs White Wheat Malt
1 oz of Tettnang hop (@60)
.5 oz Tettnang hops (@15)
.5 oz Tettnang hops (@5)
.5 oz Paradise Seed (@15)
I used Wyeast American Ale II #1272
Also Lemon Zest from 5 lemons (@10)
i added .5lbs of cara-pils/Dextrine this did not come with kit

I let it set in the primary for 14 days it was at 1.012
so i rack to secondary for clearing and i hope it will drop to 1.010

I saw you posted another recipe that used only DME and not the LME. Which of the two recipes would you recommend? I was thinking that the less extract and more grain would be better, but wanted your opinion.

Also, what temp was your sparge? I'm assuming you mashed for 60 mins @ 152°?

Thanks so much for the recipe!

I'd sub out extract for as much grain as you can - I believe the 2nd recipe you are referring to involved a brewer who had the capacity to partial mash more grain, so I simply removed the LME and subbed in more grain. How much grain can you handle?

60 min @ 152°F sounds about right for the mash, though you could probably get away with going with a lower temp.

Thanks! I kinda figured that's what it was. I can handle more grain. That's not an issue. I usually start out with 2 gallons then sparge in another gallon after the mash and start my boil.

This recipe looks delicious, question though before I attempt this. I'm really new to brewing so I was just wondering what you did for bottling, did you add priming sugar? Also, at what temp do you add the yeast?
