Hey guys, I have been reading this place for what seems like weeks now and finally the itch is too great to try another brew ( my 6th but first Partial mash ). I'm attempting to convert and brew BierMuncher's Bass clone -> https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f64/bass-co-pale-ale-30388/.

My current set up is a 2 gallon cooler with a 5 gallon brew pot. I'm thinking I should use about 4 lbs of grain total.

Cutting his recipe in half to accommodate my 5 gallon set up and subbing in corn sugar for some of the flaked corn and light DME for some of the pale malt gives me:

2.00 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) US
1.00 lb Corn, Flaked
0.50 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 60L
0.50 lb Honey Malt
.75 Oz Roasted Barley

3.3 lb Light DME (at .6 conversion ratio)
16.5 oz Corn sugar (at 11oz to 1lb)

1.00 oz Northern Brewer [8.50%] (60 min)
0.25 oz East goldings[5.50%] (30 min)
0.25 oz East goldings[5.50%] (15 min)

Wyeast Labs #P0005

Now I don't have beer smith yet but does this seem about right? Obviously for my first time I have no idea what my effecincy will be. I thank you for any and all help!

well I brewed this as a 3 gallon batch yesterday. I think i came out with around 67% efficiency from the mash but ended up with a final gravity of 1.090!? I'm hopping its because of of the trub in my sample or didn't mix it fully.

Size: 3 gallons
Color:
27 HCU (~14 SRM)
Bitterness: 51 IBU
OG: 1.064 FG: 1.015
Alcohol: 6.3% v/v (5.0% w/w)
Grain: 2 lb. American 2-row
.3 lb. British crystal 50-60L
.3 lb Honey malt
.75 oz. Roasted barley
1.1 lb. Flaked corn

Mash: 67% efficiency
Boil:
60 minutes SG 1.064 3 gallons
1.5 lb. Light dry malt extract
11 oz. Brown sugar

Hops:
1 oz. Northern Brewer (8.5% AA, 60 min.)
.25 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 30 min.)
.25 oz. Kent Goldings (5% AA, 15 min.)

not that any one is really fallowing this but here is a pic of my sample... seems to be more orange then brown... (btw look at how much crap fell out!) I took a second reading after every thing fell out and it was still at 1.090. This will be a interesting "experiment"

Sunday I made a 5 gallon partial mash partial boil cream ale. It went much smoother. I still got around 67% on the mash and managed to hit my target OG dead on! Now I just need to modify my cooler so that im not loosing 7* in a 1.5 hour mash.
