I installed a drip hose for my hops to better saturate the soil and avoid getting powdery mildew on the leaves. I put down mulch to help avoid evaporation and the sandy soil drains pretty well.

How often should I water the hops? I'm in FL. It's already in the mid 80's to low 90's.

I think I read somewhere that you should plan for 1G per plant per day.

Obviously this all depends on a number of factors.

My recommendation is to just play around with it and see what works. You don't want your soil to be soaked, rather just constantly lightly damp.

I don't think that there is straight forward answer to your question, too many variables. I've pondered the same thing and found that I just need to stick my finger in the soil and see how damp the soil is. Some days they need it, some days they don't.
