Hello pals!

I smacked my 5 months old (was made in nov 2012) Wyeast 3724 yeast pack yesterday and it has swelled when I woke up today. I kept it and room temp all along.

I wonder if I should wait until tomorrow or later to make my starter with DME. Will it make a difference?

Also, since the pack has swelled, should I shake it from time to time and keep it at room temp before doing my starter?

If you're doing a starter, you don't even have to smack the pack. It doesn't hurt, but you can skip it with no harm.

No need to wait to get a starter going. Do whatever fits in best with your brew schedule.
