I've got a Pliny the Elder clone in the primary and plan on brewing a dark imperial IPA in the near future. I double pitched US-05 for the Pliny. Can I add the wort from the black imperial directly onto Pliny's trub (and should I mix it):mug:? Or should I wash the yeast and do a starter? Any advice much appreciated.

Both will work as far as I know.
I pour some sterile water in with the remains of the primary to loosen it then pour that into a half gallon jar. Then I wait and pour the water/beer off of that and use anywhere from 300 ~ 500 ML of that in my next batch. To me that is kind if in the middle of your two options. I don't really wash but I would call it a quick rinse. :)
