My buddy and I just brewed our first batch but unfortunately both misread teh time the dry yeast needed in water before adding it to the wort. The pack said 15mins but we reaad it as 15 secs. Beer ruined?
 
If the batch was of a moderate Original Gravity, you could lose half the yeast in an otherwise highly viable pack and still be ok...

[edit] Oh yeah: don't drink and brew, until you have at least a few successful batches under your belt ;)
