My partners and I brew 2 ten gallon batches every time we brew. Yesterday we were making a black ipa and a California common. When it came time to pitch the yeast, we mixed up the batches. The black ipa got the Cali lager yeast, and the common got the American ale yeast. 2 questions: 1st. Any prediction on how this will effect the beers and 2nd. Has this ever happened to anyone else, or are we the only one dumb enough to have done this?

The effect of your "mistake" is that your California Common will still taste like a California Common, and your Black IPA will more resemble a hoppy Bock.
