Had A Special Visitor Yesterday

This little guy stopped in for a brief visit yesterday evening...

He's currently residing at the raptor rescue in Louisville. They say he should be fine once he heals up a bit and plan on bringing him back out to release him in a few weeks once he's old enough to make it on his own. He's a young barred owl by the way.

I hope the little guy gets better soon. I love having birds of prey around my place since they keep the mouse and vole population down. This year I have one owl and a family of hawks on my place and the little furries are running scared :ban:

We had a big owl in the backyard yesterday. I took a pic. No idea what kid of owl this is. You can't really tell from the pic, but he was really big. He seemed particularly interested in my dog!

That is so awesome. I love owls. A few years ago I took care of a fledgling Eastern Screech Owl while I was trying to find a rehab place for it....the conservation officer never did call me back. It was an awesome experience. It was really funny, watching it decide whether it wanted fed or if it wanted to bite me.
