    PID Autotune Goes to Boil

Might be a bad relay. I had the same issue. I went cheep on my SSR purchase and turns out they were bad and not turning off the element even though the SSR light indicated it was cycling. I replaced my SSR with one from Auber, set the temp to 154F and initiated the autotune at 144F. It ran...

PID Not Turning off Heating Element - Need Help

Thanks P-J for pointing out an alternate possibility. The probe is a Pt100 RTD from Auber. The 2352 is Sn code is set on 21, so we are good there. I'm going with a bad SSR. The SSR is the only thing I went cheap on. I took a gamble on it, but it looks like it isn't paying off. I'm going to...

PID Not Turning off Heating Element - Need Help

PID Not Turning off Heating Element - Need Help What am I doing wrong? Bad SSR, Bad PID or Bad Process? I just got my control panel up and running, but I'm having some problems with PID. It seems to keep heating regardless of the Set Value. On brew day I set the PID to 160 F, but the temp...

    Wiring Help

I was a bit confused wiring my contactor. This pic should help clear things up. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f16/contactors-e-brew-heating-elements-273489/index11.html#post4787722

    Allen-Bradley Contactor Wiring Help

Thanks for all of the replies. Sounds like I'm going to order a 50a contactor to bring the main in and just go w what P-J provided. I liked the idea of using AB because they are higher quality and were a good deal from Zeus. Too bad I didn't know what I was doing when I bought them. Oh well. I'm...

    Allen-Bradley Contactor Wiring Help

I made an assumption based on a diagram from ebrewsupply. It appears that he is using two 40a contactors to pull in the 50a service. I was really just double checking, but sounds like I may have been mistaken on how to use the contactors...

    Contactors for e-brew heating elements.

thanks stlbeer. great picture! As for the 2 c30's for the 50a service, I made an assumption based on a diagram from ebrewsupply. It appears that he is using two 40a contactors to pull in the 50a service. I was really just double checking, but sounds like I may have been mistaken on how to use...

    Contactors for e-brew heating elements.

I need help. I purchased 4 C30's last year, but just now getting around to wiring my control panel. (I'm posting here because I thought I could get someone who used these actual contactors.) The plan is to use 2 of the C30's together to bring in the 50a service. Then the other 2 to be used on...

    Heat sink setup question

I spoke to a rep at Open Source Control Systems about mounting the 2 SSR/Heatsinks inside a 16x16x8 control panel without a fan and no venting to run my PIDs. They said that it should be okay in this application. I'm going to give it a go and see how it does. As a back up I'm laying out my panel...

50 amp wiring diagram help - brewtroller

Thanks gnatp2. I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the DIN mount SSRs. Do you mind sharing where you picked up the DIN mount fan?

DIN mount SSR, anyone using them? Are there benefits?

I contacted Open Source Control Systems and they said that with the size enclosure I'm using (16x16x8) that it should be fine without a fan. I think I'm going to go for it unless I hear from someone who has actually used them like this and has had a negative experience.

DIN mount SSR, anyone using them? Are there benefits?

Is anyone using the DIN mount SSR's and heatsinks, and recommend going that route? Are you using a fan (external/internal)? http://www.oscsys.com/store/product/1001674 I would love to use them but I'm worried they would get too hot and fail based on what I've read on this forum. (If that is...

50 amp wiring diagram help - brewtroller

Did you end up using the DIN mount SSR's? I'm getting ready to cut holes for external heatsinks and ran across this. If you did use the DIN mount SSR's with the internal heat sink did you install a fan to pull air through?

Show us your element housings/pots. How did you do it?

The one's I picked up are rated at 30amp continuous power per UL Standard 1977 on Component Connectors for Use in Data, Signal, Control and Power Applications. It's may be complete ignorance on my part, but it seems like using these between the control panel and elements would be an acceptable...

Show us your element housings/pots. How did you do it?

just placed my order for 4 plugs and 4 outlets. I think this is going to be a great solution. Cheaper than the twist locks and takes up less space. Plus I can disconnect my power cord from the kettle. Thanks for sharing the info.
