    Keg lube

So I have a need for some keg lubricant on one of my kegs because I have a small leak. Went to get it and someone misplaced it for me. This is the second tube that has been lost. I know I could order more from a brew shop, but don't really want to pay more for shipping than the lub. So the...

    Aging beer?

Why are some beer able to be aged, say a year or two and others are not? For example a barleywine can be aged 1 or 2 years without any ill effects but a pale ale/ brown ale tastes scunked after a year. I've really only noticed this in non-homebrews(craft beer). My homebrew doesn't last that long.

    Cascade vs Falconer's Flight

I picked up some Falconer's Flight the other day to try in an IPA I made. Haven't had any experience with it. My recipe called for a cascade dry hop but before I put it in the batch, I wanted to see what other opinions are before putting it in. Cascade or FF as dry hop.

    Belgian Beer

So, I had my first Westmalle Tripel tonight. Nice! I've had Chimay but I'm thinking I like Westmalle's better. I'm definitely loving my Belgians!

    First Trappist Ale = Awesome

Just tasted my first Trappist Ale that I brewed. All I can say is "AWESOME!" I wanted to clone Chimay but integrated several ingredients that other HBT peps used in their recipes. Below is the recipe I used and comments are welcomed. Recipe: All-grain 5 gallon batch SRM: 7 IBU: 31.3...

    Boil kettle

Just bought a 60 quart boil kettle from an industrial kitchen supply store. The question is: do I need to attach a thermometer and sight glass to the kettle for an all-grain brew? The reason I ask is because I see the boil kettles on the brew supply stores websites with a thermometer and sight...

    Imperial Stout Question

So, a month ago I brewed an Imperial Stout. It has been in the primary and getting ready to rack it to secondary. The kit it came in had a packet of champaign yeast that is supposed to be added at secondary. The question is, does this champaign packet really need to be added? I think I know...

    A good feeling

So, I'm a newbie to craft beer making. As probably most beginners, I made many mistakes to my first batch of Autumn Amber Ale (pitching temp, sanitation, fermentation methods and temps). I've been having guys at work with help me drink it so I could make more. Today I had one guy tell me it was...

    Plastic or glass

New homebrewer here. Wanted opinions on primary fermentor. Should I use a plastic pale ale bucket or glass carboy? Also, if I used a glass carboy, should I use a 6 or 6 1/2 gallon. Pros & Cons of each?
