    Real honey vs honey malt

I just kegged a honey amber I've made a few times. I use a lb of honey malt and 2 lbs of honey. The first 5 gallons doesn't have much of a honey flavor, but after a few months the honey flavor really comes out. One of my favorite beers to brew and it usually disappears quickly.

    Storing Crushed Grains

If you want to store them do not get them crushed. Spend the $100 and get a good mill. It will do wonders for your efficiency to once you dial in the new mill. Once you do that Amy air tight container works. I use home depot buckets cause they are cheap and stackable.

    Need help with Saison recipe

So my gf is a huge fan of Tommyknocker saison and I've come around to it being that I'm usually not a fan of saisons. I've searched and can't find anything on it, but does someone have a clone recipe for it? I am a newbie when it comes to saisons so I figured I'd ask here first.

All four bines are about ten feet now.

    Growing hops

I use an earthtainer. It worked great last year and only needed water every 3 or 4 days in the Georgia sun. Very easy to make and holding water makes it easy if you travel a decent amount. Google earthtainer and there is a website devoted to it by a guy who grows tomatoes.

So I've been lazy and need advice

I trimmed all but four and covered with mulch, we will see how this year goes. If it's anything like last year it will be massive again.

So I've been lazy and need advice

I agree completely I tried my best to not do much and it grew well in the earthtainer. Its only a year old too. Hopefully I'll get a pound of hops this year instead of a few ounces.

So I've been lazy and need advice

Should I bury it in some more dirt? It seems like its a little too close to the surface.

So I've been lazy and need advice

I'll be the first to say I slacked at the end of last year and didn't even cut down my first year hops vines from last year. So now that its warming up I went to check on them and see this. I'm assuming it is the crown and I just need to dig it down and bury it. I at first thought it was a weed...

Growing hops in the South (esp. Georgia)

I grew cascade last year and they took off. I grew them in an earthtainer which made it easy to not let dry out. Tons of water and not a full day of sun and they will grow. Hell they are weeds and can grow about anywhere.

    Lactose - amount at post-fermentation

I always boil mine the last few minutes. And for using a whole pound I only use a half in my session stout (og is around 1.04) for anything larger I'd use a whole pound.

    time to harvest?

Figured I'd just add to this thread instead of starting my own. They smell kinda like tomato plants with a little hops mixed in but the tomato smell is most prevalent. A few have turned a little more pale green than the others, but this looked the most ripe.

    Need centennial cones?

No real set amount. I have about a half pound of pellets in my freezer. Just didn't want a bunch of fresh hops to go to waste.

Calling Accuflex Bev-Seal Ultra (3/16) experts

I wish I could use 10 ft lines. At 10 ft and 13 psi at 42 F I got a half glass of foam all the time. With 20ft lines they work perfectly minus the fact that the CO2 comes out of solution in the long line for the first pour of the night.

Mounting drip tray on front of chest freezer

I'm using 3 round magnets that are about a quarter inch by 1 inch round and two very thin hard drive magnets. The drip tray is a stainless mud pan. Less than 10 bucks and is removable to clean out the drippings.

    citra hop rhizomes

Yep. I might have to try this next year. Got too much going on to give this that much attention. Keep us updated on if anything happens. What I'd do for just one amarillo rhizome.
