You know you're a home brewer when?

Anyone who has had that on their fingers knows that sounds painful. More power to you.

    New Kentucky commercial hop farm

Yeah I'm not sure what was going on. I tried multiple rhizomes from multiple sources. Could have just been my soil, but I have heard that it does really well in other farms in the commonwealth.

    New Kentucky commercial hop farm

Haven't made it that far yet. I haven't had any mildew issues on my personal hops near where the new line is in 5 years so I haven't thought about it.

    New Kentucky commercial hop farm

My tractor was unexpectedly put into the shop so I couldn't till. So I got a late spring start on one line and hopefully I'll be able to put in three more lines for next spring.

Thanks for the kcard link, I'll check that out. Iv asked at the extension office and talked to Andy there and didn't get much from him other than a couple documents that I had already found with a google search.

    New Kentucky commercial hop farm

Next year I will have enough need to be able to get plants. This year I could not justify the cost. I only had 1 line able to be planted, next year I will have 3 ready. There were other factor as well including time. I know this year had I got plants I would not have been able to get them in the...

This is something I have been mulling for some time and your explanation comes at a decision making time. Thanks for the info! It only makes sense to invest in what will literally be the money maker.

Not much to see yet. When I get the poles in the ground I'll do some picture updates. I haven't seen many good deals with rhizomes just yet. I have seen where some people put two rhizomes in each hill, that seems pricey to me. We'll see if I need to buy extra rhizomes to cover some that don't...

Gonna cover them in driveway sealant or some other form of asphalt of some sort. I'm not going to tilt the poles they will all be vertical. I haven't done the math on how far out the anchors will be, but I think I'll settle on 10 feet out.

I finally finished stripping the poles of bark, now I just need to coat them in weather proofing. I found cabling online for about 28 cents a foot shipped for free, no hassle. I should be getting these in the ground soon and ordering rhizomes as well.

My free telephone pole lead fell through so I have reverted to cutting trees from our property. Gonna skin them and cover the underground part in roofing tar as a barrier.

Need wiring schematic for 2 kettle setup: 120v RIMS MT, 240v BK with 1 pump, 2 circui

I don't remember which ones I used. I drew them out in paper based on the pj diagrams and have discarded them since. As you can see from the front of my panel, I do not have a main powers switch. I just have switches for each element and the pump. I didn't need as many bells and whistles as...

Need wiring schematic for 2 kettle setup: 120v RIMS MT, 240v BK with 1 pump, 2 circui

Sorry, I should also mention that the pids for each circuit are powered by that circuit. So when the 120v circuit is plugged in, the pid controlling the rims element is powered and the same for the 240v circuit.

Need wiring schematic for 2 kettle setup: 120v RIMS MT, 240v BK with 1 pump, 2 circui

That's exactly what I made, however, I just used two schematics on the forums from PJ. My 120v circuit runs the 1500w element for the rims and my pump. My 240v circuit runs my hot rod which goes between my hlt and bk. Edit, if you do a google search for PJ electrical schematics then you will...

    Cheap Digital Tap List?

I have a question about this. Once you have everything installed, does the wifi network still need a connection to the Internet or can it run just on the local network? I live in an area that's stuck in the 19th century, but I can travel and get things set up on the computer.

I think it would depend on if you were selling to brewery or homebrewers. I haven't thought that far ahead though. You'll want to take your yearly costs into consideration when setting your price. I think pricing may be easier once you get a season or two under your belt. You'll know costs and...

Where do homegrown hops fit into your hop bill

I have used them as bittering with no problems. I used the middle of the range of AA given for that hop. I.e. If the hop is ranged 8-12%, then I used 10%. Honestly, you can't tell if you're making a hoppy APA or IPA. Maybe wouldn't use the estimated range for a lowly hopped beer like Light...
