    Homemade Vanilla Extract Ratio?

If I add it slowly to the secondary in 2 oz increments over the course of a couple days and take taste samples, that sounds like a decent method based on your post!

    Homemade Vanilla Extract Ratio?

Hi all, I have been making vanilla extract over the course of 6 months. Roughly there is 4-5 oz in a mason jar. I made it with Devil Springs 160 proof vodka. What ratio should I use for pitching it into a secondary for flavoring a Robust Porter? Thanks!

Accounting for Temp Lost During Mash In?

So I have about 6 all grain brews under my belt. I preheat my mash tun (rubbermaid 10g cooler) with the strike water. I usually heat that strike water to 185 and let it get down to the target temp (around 163-166, depending on the mash temp I want (152-155). I let it sit for about 15 minutes...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

It was going to be dry and tart if I didn't. If I had a few weeks to age it, I may have not. But, it's for a party this weekend. I had a month to ferment and keg/age it.

New way to control Pellet Hop gunk!

Used mine this past weekend. It was awesome. No hop gunk was to be found outside of the filter. Mine is the 300 micron sizing

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

I used a combination of amber dme and dark amber dme. It turned out great. I did back sweeten it though.

    How's the crush?

Yeah, and I should have clarified, that was a handful of the .039 gap crush. I have a domed false bottom in my MLT (the fly guy one.) I should be fine on the batch sparge.

    How's the crush?

I just received my 2MM monster mill in the mail today and finished setting it up. I set the gap to .039 (the feeler gauge moved the rollers with a little resistance, hope thats correct) and did 4 lbs of 2-row to clean off the rollers.

New way to control Pellet Hop gunk!

Just received my order -- the filter looks great! Quality work done. I am looking forward to using this in my brew session this coming weekend. I'll be sure to add post brew highlights. Two thumbs up!

New way to control Pellet Hop gunk!

I just ordered a 4x11 filter with 300 microns. Chad was great with communication, and replied back quickly. He's going to try and get my order in this weekend, but it sounds like he has a lot of orders to do. I paid an extra 10 bucks for it over the advertised ebay listing as it was a custom...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Just made a 5 gallon batch of Graff again for a Halloween party -- hope its drinkable by then :) I used dark amber extract instead of light, 120L Crystal, and used about .6 oz of Fuggle (4%AA). I used the fresh pressed filtered apple juice from Costco. I initially made a batch a few months...

Whipping up a Dip Tube for a False Bottom

I currently own the 11" false bottom from Midwest (http://www.midwestsupplies.com/review/product/list/id/5283/category/326/) and I noticed I have a ton of deadspace (sometimes around half a gallon.) Does anyone have any good recommendations for creating a dip tube that would hook directly...

    Festbier BierMuncher's OktoberFAST Ale (AG)

Brewed this up yesterday in the 5 gal AG variation. OG of 1.061 -- hope that isn't too high. The LHBS didn't have the full 2.8 lbs of Vienna, so I just subbed more Munich (1.6 lbs of extra Munich, 1.2 lbs of Vienna.) Beautiful dark autumn orange color and is fermenting at 61 degrees at the moment.
