I'm looking for something similar. I see a lot of nice places to drink beer (e.g., BeneLux) but I'm wondering if there's much in the way of brewery tours in Montreal? I'm not seeing any.

I'd recommend a strap wrench over channel locks to loosen the collection ball. Less risk of cracking the plastic. Strap wrenches are cheap and I just keep one with all the FF gear in a bin.

If your LHBS told you they'd work and the don't, the have to take them back. It doesn't matter what their policy is.
